Our getaway

This past Thursday Will and I went out of town for the night to Eureka Springs, it was nice we haven't done anything away from the kids in a long time!!  We got a vip suite at the Basin Hotel downtown and it was pretty neat.
After checking in we went upstairs and ate at the balcony restaurant.
heading out to the passion play.  It was super cold at the passion play but it was great and we enjoyed it!!

About to go shopping! We decided to get up pretty early to hit the shops downtown before heading home Friday, but the shops didn't open till 10am so that was pointless LOL.  We went into a few shops, stopped and had lunch and then headed to the Cresent.

Will hadn't ever seen the Cresent hotel (supposedly haunted) so we went in there and looked around a bit.

The fall foliage is so beautiful up there this time of year, I wish I would have gotten more photos of the mountains and trees :(

We really enjoyed our getaway, it was nice to have some time to spend just to ourselves.  I am so thankful that my mom kept the boys and that they were actually pretty good for her.

Hubbys' Party

So for the past month or so I have been trying to think of what I wanted to do for Wills 30th party....its a big deal leaving the twenties LOL so I wanted to do something awesome!!  I thought about having it at a restaurant somewhere and inviting family and friends, but then I got to thinking people might not be able to afford much to eat and there was no way I could feed everybody :).  So I got the church fellowship hall for the night and then the stress hit...I've not done a surprise party before how do I invite people, how do I plan and buy things for it without him knowing? Goodness it has been a crazy two weeks that's for sure!!! But the party is about to start and everything seems to be coming together! He is a major tactical/survivor guy so I did camo and tactical gear for the theme.  The place I had the cake made couldn't draw out what I drew so I ended up drawing it on icing sheets and stick it on there myself ;) where there's a will there's a way right!?

The party turned out pretty good!! He didn't suspect anything until he pulled into the parking lot, so I have to say I am proud of myself :)

Here are a few pics......

October

I cannot believe that its already October 11th but I thought I would catch up on things we have been doing or plan on doing this month :)

Today Lyric has his first field trip...they are going to a pumpkin patch and he has been excited about it for two weeks now! I think mainly because he gets to ride a bus and take a sack lunch.  This morning I was packing his lunch when he grabbed himself and I a juice box....cutest thing, except I didn't need one right away. Skies are cloudy and its sprinkling so I hope that the weather holds off for him, he even said a little prayer this morning for God to hold off the rain. LOL

I finally got a beginning list of the verses he is going to need to know for Bible Quizzing.  I have to say I am a little worried about him memorizing so much because it is books of Psalms...not just verses BOOKS!! His first quiz meet is December 1st so I do have some time to work with him and I'm definitely not going to force him, I think the best thing is to let him go at his own pace.

My awesome husband turns 30 this Sunday so I have been planning a surprise party for him. STRESSFUL is not even the word I can use LOL, not because of the party but because he can read me so well and I am a terrible fibber so how he hasn't gotten me to crack I have no clue hahaha.  Other than that its going pretty good I drew out his cake and turns out they can't draw what I drew so I am going to draw them on sugar sheets and cut it out another worry for me :/  We will see how it goes and I will post pics this weekend.

Logan has been super hard to handle this past month, he is very sensitive about EVERYTHING and will not listen to a word I say.  I don't know if its a three year old thing or what, but hopefully it passes soon.

Gavin is into everything he is so different from when the other two were little!! He will eat anything, favorites are crayons and pencil erasers LOL he tries to get into the color box all the time.  He loves to chase the boys around and as soon as they get home he has to be with them at all times or he gets very upset.  He still is not walking just standing on his own and taking a few steps at a time, so I'm guessing any day now!

We have some awesome plans coming up next week Will and I are taking a one night getaway (thanks to my wonderful mom for keeping the boys) I am so excited about this I can barely contain it!! We found an awesome package deal in Eureka Springs so we are doing it...we normally back out of anything we plan for ourselves because we always want to take the kids.  Will happens to be off that whole weekend though so when we get back we plan on taking them to the Aquarium and maybe a pumpkin patch if we decide not to stay the night in Oklahoma.

I will have tons of pics to add to the fun things we are doing....

KOOL KID

Well last Friday was the second Kool Kid assembly of the school year.  I received a call on Monday morning from the school, which for one startled me, it was Lyrics librarian and she wanted me to know that he was picked to be Kool Kid for me to be at the school Friday to see him receive his award!  I cannot tell you how excited I was for him because I just new that he would be so surprised and happy.  I also new that it would build up his confidence just a little :)

I heard all week long that he wanted to be picked this time and that he kept his tickets on green for over a week and blah blah blah LOL.... I wanted to tell him so bad but I kept the secret.

Kool Kid- they pick based on how responsible the child has been for the past month helping others, doing what they are told and so on.  He gets an award, a goodie bag with candy, and they get to sit at a special table all month with special privileges.

For some reason my camera did not take very good photos but here are some that I got.

Crafts, Chores and Parties

Sometimes on Saturdays I like to try and do something crafty with the boys, since its the only day we really have to relax and do whatever.  Last Saturday the boys painted a small canvas and then let it dry....after drying they put their handprint on it.  Cute and simple and the funniest thing to see Gavin put his hand on the canvas with all the paint he was laughing so hard :)

CHORES!!! Yes I am having the boys help me do the dishes.....they actually didn't do a bad job of loading the dishwasher.  I have decided that I am going to bring my boys up knowing how to cook, do the dishes and laundry!! I am sure their future wives will thank me someday LOL.  They have been putting away their laundry for awhile so I got to thinking what else can I have them do.  Lyric did state that he thought I was the only one that was supposed to work in the house (which I agree since I do stay at home) but I quickly told him that it was ok to help me every now and then ;0)
They were rewarded today with some new hot wheels cars that I picked up while doing my shopping.

Skate Party for Mackenzie.....
Lyric and Logans cousin Mackenzie turned 7 last weekend and she wanted to have a skate party....LOL fine by me but I would not be out there! Will got skates and helped the boys a little bit I think Logan enjoyed it more than Lyric but they both had a good time.

Spirit Week

Lyric had spirit week a couple of weeks ago for the High School Homecoming Game.  It was super fun to dress him up, I remember doing it when I was in school.  He really enjoyed it too, his favorite was pj day and of course wild n crazy day because nothing had to match :)

Purple in White Day ( I had nothing for this day, so I ran to hobby lobby at the last minute and Logan had to have a purple shirt too)

Camo Day

Pajama Day

Wild n Crazy day

Razorback day

TIME IS FLYLING!!!!!!!!!

Wow I cannot believe its been almost a month since I blogged!! The time is just slipping away and we have been super busy :)

So I will put the month of September in a post all on its own.....

Memory Verses: The boys did great on their first memory first they had it memorized and is still quoting it a month later :) I did have another one for them to start on but I am kinda waiting because we have signed Lyric up for Bible Quizzing at church and I do not want to over load him! He is really excited to be doing bible quizzing I believe he will have to know 15 verses a week, I'm not going to expect that from him because he is only 6 but I think knowing a little of the word is better than none.

Cooking/Meal Planning: I have been meal planning for over a year now but I have just started to do it in 2 week shopping trips and it has saved us a ton of money! Its nice to know what we are having each day instead of running around several times a week looking for groceries.  I am definitely going to try and do a whole month at once shopping trip in October....yes I am a little nervous because it seems extreme to shop 30 days at one time not to mention snacks, breakfast and lunch items as well.  I will see how it goes though!!
So during this meal planning for a month at a time I decided that I should do two new recipes a week, that gives us a chance to explore and not be eating the same things over and over again.  If we like the recipe it goes into the box for future meals.  This is working out great as well there has only been a couple things we are like NO hahahaha.....
Will started making homemade salsa (pic below) it is AWESOME and the kids love it!

I started my own amish friendship bread starter and to my surprise not too bad I am now on week two and we have made two different breads and shared with friends its a neat idea and there are so many options and its perfect for a breakfast food for the boys!!

This is Butterscotch chocolate chip bread...(not too sweet either)

Gavin turned 10 months September 16th, I cannot believe it! He still doesn't sleep all that great (up at least twice) and he likes to get up at the crack of dawn but its ok these days won't last long :)  He has a great personality, he has taken about 4 steps but still isn't sure that he wants to venture further but if there is furniture or anything he can walk next to or push he is traveling LOL.

My Birthday was the 25th of September and it was a very blessed one!! Will and the boys got me some beautiful flowers, the new Big Daddy Weaved cd, body spray and a new jacket.  We got to celebrate with a couple of our friends...we went out to eat and that was nice.  The next day my mom cooked me dinner and got me a wand curler and new hair dryer (very needed) LOL mine was at the end of its rope!!  My MEME gave me some shopping money so I went with mom and we shopped then a couple of days later my mother n law took me shopping and out for lunch.  So I really think I was one lucky girl this year :)
